Art In Process By Jenny Delgado

The Art In Process

Water slowly dilutes the paint across the canvas
When it comes to art, I never feel anxious
Slowly the colors blend into a twilight sunset
As the smell of acrylic paint fills my nose
Picturing the landscape in my head that I’ll never forget
Thinking about the history of this place. Who knows?

My brush curves back and forth across the horizon
My body now slowly lightens
Now relaxed like the waters
No more pressure like underwater
But light like a bird’s feather
Warm like summer weather

I dip my brush into the water as the paint dances around
Swirls of paint mixings turning the water brown
Continuing the blending stroke by stroke
Getting the nice texture of oak

My brush bathes in the bowl of water as I clean
Gripping my brush as I mix blue and yellow to get green
Both colors dancing together to make jade
Swirling to the beat of palate
Changing the brush as the soaked brush laid
Painting the texture of grass as it reminds me of salad

Dry hands with dried paint
They move back and forth
Sound of painting is so faint
Getting a cramp is what it’s worth

My painted rosy cheeks get warm
Just as I fished my art form
My eyes dancing around the art
Looking at it part by part
A smile to my face
As I rubbed my painted hands
Now, gotta look for space
And make new plans
