A Day At The Beach

I jump up out of the car
Mom pulling out the umbrella
Dad following behind her while carrying the big red cooler
You take the first step to freedom
But then you get startled by the pigeon poking at an old bag of potato chips
You take a deep breath and smell the fresh salt water
Walking closer to the shore
You watch the waves come in and out of the shore like dominos falling
Families running in the sand trying to find that perfect spot
Kids dumping sand on their Dads turning them into sand mermaids
Moms laying trying to get the perfect tan
Kids yelling and laughing running towards the beach because they got the okay from their mom to be free
Waves moving freely
Splashes of water here and there
Look out at the sea
Waves moving in different ways like whacky inflatable balloons
Look out and see millions of miles of free space
