I am from abandoned buildings being rebuilt, and streets filled with cars
Those ¨Rachett girls¨ singing and dancing to loud music
I am from gangs constantly at war and old men standing by the liquor stores staring as you walk by
The kids playing at skate parks after school and tagging buildings at the end of the night
Burgular bars on windows trying to keep everything out and shoes on power lines after they´ve been worn out
I am from going to sleep to the screams of sirens as the sun sets for the night
Kids playing football and basketball in the streets as cars race by
The sounds of our feet and screams as the food cart guy waits for us to buy or dancing to the music of the ice cream truck as it zooms by
The overflowing dressers and shoes by the bed
The newly painted purple walls and pictures above my head
The candles on my dresser as i watch the flames light up my eyes
The glass tables as we wipe away the finger prints stuck on the other side, the mirrors in the hallway to make sure that you look fine
The trampoline in the backyard as we jump to reach the sky
I am from those tagged buildings with art that is one of a kind
The music that’s created as the emergency responders roll by
Cheering on my dad at his basketball games every Friday night,The vacations every summer, and parties all the time
I am from F*** the ops they never stop ending innocent lives
I am from family first, loyalty, and living life with no regrets
WooooW this is an amazing connection :)
ReplyDeletei love the last line of your poem, great job
ReplyDeleteYour poem was really nice and put beauty in things that are normally put in a negative aspect. I really enjoyed reading it because it shows how you find the beauty in things people usually let pass by. My favorite line is "The candles on my dresser as i watch the flames light up my eyes" because it shows how everything in your poem brings light to your life. :)
